Shirley M Barreira 88, a longtime resident of Hudson MA died Monday December 12, 2016 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA. Shirley was the wife of the late Joseph Barreira who passed in 2003.
Born in Hudson, she was the daughter of Wilfred (Buster) Morel and Alice Mary Catherine Cronin Morel. Shirley was a 1945 graduate of St. Michaels Academy and was employed by the Hudson Light and Power Company for several years. Shirley enjoyed her social life and her girlfriends. She was a member of the Emblem Club, the Hudson Women's Club and the Catholic Daughters for many years. She referred to the gatherings that followed at Keepers 2 or Checkerboards as some of her favorites. Shirley also had a special fondness for New York City, Broadway shows and Sardis restaurant where she was well loved and always treated like visiting royalty.
Calling hours for Mrs. Barreira will be held on Sunday, December 18, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home on Monday, December 19 at 10:00 am followed by a Graveside Service at 11:00 am at Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street in Hudson.
