Shirley A. (Barber) Forrest

Shirley A. (Barber) Forrest, 75 of Marlborough, formerly of Hudson and Sudbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Reservoir Center for Health and Rehab in Marlborough, surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. She joins her beloved husband Raymond W. Forrest who passed in 2005.

Shirley was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on November 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Clyde and Edith (McMann) Barber. She was raised in Sudbury, Ma, where she graduated from high school. She later moved to Marlboro where she lived for many years and eventually settled in Hudson for 25 years. Shirley worked as a school bus driver in Marlborough before she eventually retired.

Shirley was a longtime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and AMVETS both in Marlboro. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed shopping, traveling and canning. Shirley loved animals and through the years had many beloved pets that she cared for. Most of all Shirley loved spending time with her family, who she adored.

Shirley is survived by her two children, Misty A. Viera and her husband Javier of Marlboro and William P. Martel of Randolph; her sister, Betty Gibson and her husband Sidney of Marlboro; two grandchildren, Angelique Rivera and Xavier Viera and two great-grandchildren, Elisia and Zyana Rivera. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Lester Barber.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday, May 7, 2018, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St. Hudson, MA immediately followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12 pm. Shirley will be laid to rest with her late husband Raymond in Evergreen Cemetery in Marlboro following completion of services in the funeral home.
