Hudson

Stephen Gerald Neary, 57, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, surrounded by his family, after a period of declining health. He leaves his beloved wife of 31 years, Shirley M. (Leger) Neary.

Stephen was born in Waltham, MA, on July 21, 1962, the only son of the late Gerald J. and Jermaine C. (Gurney) Neary. He graduated from Waltham High School in the class of 1980 and later married the love of his life, Shirley M. (Leger) Neary. Together, they settled in Hudson, MA where they have resided for the past 27 years. Stephen successfully owned and operated his own landscape company for the past 15 years and was contracted through the Town of Weston as a snow plow driver. Prior to owning his own business, he worked as a route driver for Poland Springs. He was a longtime member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson.

Throughout his life, Stephen was an active person who enjoyed sports and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hockey, football, softball, bowling, skiing, riding his bicycle, and his snowmobiles. True to his Massachusetts roots, Stephen was a fierce New England Sports fan and a long time Patriots Season Ticket Holder. Above all else, he was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his friends, family and his faithful dog “Buddy”. Stephen was a caring and generous person who continued his generosity towards others even after his passing by donating his brain and spinal cord for continued research to help find a cure for CSF1R-Related Adult-Onset Leukoencephalopathy with Axonal Spheroids and Pigmented Glia.

In addition to his beloved wife, Stephen is also survived by his son Derek S. Neary and his longtime companion Kasi L. Darwin of Hudson, MA; his sister Paula J. Grant of FL, his mother and father in law, Aurele and May Leger, his sisters-in-law, Norma DiVito and her husband Dan, Karen Dunner and her husband Glenn and Lena Grosser and her husband Randy. He was also survived by his nieces and nephews, Scott Grant, Jason Grant, Christine DiBlasi, Kimberly Ann Piper, Matthew LaVanway, Rebecca LaVanway, Marissa DiVito and Brianna Grosser. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Joanne Brasco and his brothers-in-law Allen “Whitey” Scott Brasco and W. Richard “Dick” Grant.
