Hudson, MA
Stephen J. Pope, 46, of Hudson, died Sunday, May 11 at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.
He was born in Marlboro and is survived by his parents, Richard F. and Carolyn M. (O'Neil) Pope of Brookfield, former residents of Hudson.
He was raised in Hudson and attended Saint Michael's School in Hudson. He was a 1980 graduate of Assabet Valley Technical H.S. and later graduated from Quinsigamond College in 1982 where he received an associate degree in Computer Science and Electronics.
Stephen was a talented athlete in both hockey and baseball, he was a pitcher for the Quinsigamond college baseball team for 2 years. He coached both hockey and baseball for Hudson Youth teams.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Laura (Pope) Sweeney of Oakham; his uncle, David O'Neil; his aunts, Arlene Gird and Nancy McDonald, all of Hudson. He is also survived by his cousins, Barbara Pascoe of Cary, NC, Sister Bernaadette Keefe (Helen Keefe), sister of Notre Dame at Long Term Care in Worcester, Matthew O'Niel of Hudson, Ellen O'Neil of San Diego, CA, Marykate McDonald of Worcester and Shawn McDonald of York, ME.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, May 16, at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St. Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 15, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749
