Takuhi "Queenie" (Yerganian) DerMugrditchian, 86, of Hudson, formerly of Watertown, died Saturday, March 6th at Bolton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlboro. She was the wife of the late Arthur DerMugrditchian for 56 years who died in March of 2007 and mother of the late Gary DerMugrditchian who died Jan. 28, 2010.
Born in Chelsea, daughter of the late Garabed and Verkin (Aselbegian) Yerganian, Queenie was raised in Watertown and was a graduate of Watertown H.S. class of 1942. She resided in Watertown until 1963 at which time she moved to Hudson. She worked for the Watertown Arsenal in Watertown as a key punch operator during the 50's and early 60's and then worked as a purchasing agent for the U.S. Coast Guard in Boston for 20 plus years. She retired from the Digital Equipment Corp. in Maynard after 10 years as a purchasing agent. She also worked part-time for the former Town Cleaners in Hudson. Queenie was very active locally and in her church community, she enjoyed crafts and needlepoint, the many items she created were donated to help raise funds for the church. She also would dance at the yearly Armenian Picnic gathering to raise funds for the Armenian Church. She was a member of the Senior Strutters in Sudbury who performed many musical and dance shows locally. Queenie, along with her husband Arthur and son Gary, also entertained the residents at the Armenian Nursing Home monthly in Jamaica Plain and with her husband, raised funds to purchase a piano for the nursing home by requesting all gifts from their 50th wedding anniversary be put towards this purchase. She was a member of St. Luke's Church in Hudson and also a member of the Armenian Church of Our Savior in Worcester.
She is survived by her son, Mark DerMugrditchian and his wife Cynthia of Northbridge; her two grandchildren, Lindsay and David DerMugrditchian of Northbridge; her sister, Rose Magarian of Peabody; her sister in law, Liberty Murgrditchian of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Asadoor Sarajian and Gladys Tashjian, both of Watertown.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 11th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Luke's Church, 5 Washington Street, Wood Square, Hudson. Burial will follow in forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 10th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
