HUDSON
Teresa F. Matias, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Beca Boticas, Portugal, the daughter of Jose Caio Fernandes and Florinda da Silva. Teresa has been a Hudson resident since 1961.
One might remember Teresa for her garden. She lived by the walk path in Hudson. She dedicated a vast amount of time up keeping her garden and flowers for everyone's enjoyment. She loved seeing individuals walking by and commenting on her beautiful yard. She too was always seen walking especially with her sister, Alexandria. She was an active member of St. Michael's Church and when she lived in Portugal, she was also involved in the Church in her hometown. Her enthusiastic and loving personality will always be remembered by all.
Teresa is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ivo P. Matias; a son, Jose M. Matias; a daughter, Ana M. Czapkowski and her husband, Chester; two grandchildren, Julie Ann and David Joseph; two living sisters, Alexandrina Fernandes and Izilda Fernandes; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6th in the Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson. Funeral services for Teresa will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 7th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
