Thelma L. (Peck) Smith-74, of Bolton, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, Hardy H. Smith of Bolton.
Born in Marlborough, daughter of the late Albert and Edna (Burgoyne) Peck, she was raised in Northborough attending local schools and moved to Bolton in 1977.
She was a tax collector for the town of Bolton for 15 years before retiring. She enjoyed crossword puzzles as a hobby and also enjoyed the afternoon soap opera's on television during her spare time.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her 3 sons, Donald Smith and his wife Alice of Northbridge, David Smith and his wife Anita of Framingham and Dennis Smith and his wife Deborah of Petersham. She also leaves her cousin with whom she grew up with, Joanne Hooranart of Lehigh, FL; her 7 grandchildren, Jamie, Shannon, Dylan, Dennis, Danny, Donna and Diane; and her great grandchild Julian, along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow at South Cemetery in Bolton. Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday, Jan. 18, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
