Thomas S. Karuzis, 77, of Berlin, formerly of Jamaica Plain, died on Wednesday, July 17th at Marlboro Hospital. He was the loving husband of 46 years to Joan E. (Goodwin) Karuzis who died in 2006.
Thomas was born and raised in Lynn, son of the late Siget and Mary (Wizboski) Karuzis. He attended local schools and was a 1953 graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering graduating from Tufts University in Medford in 1957. He worked as a chemical engineer for many years with Rocketdyne Co. of California; Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of Connecticut and Florida and Arinc Research Co. of Massachusetts until his retirement.
Thomas was a loving father and truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His loving care of his wife Joan will be remembered by them all. His culinary art in the kitchen was cherished by all who had the opportunity to frequently enjoy the special dishes he prepared for them. He enjoyed dining out weekly at local restaurants and reading in his spare time. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his three children, Karen Friedman and her husband Jeffrey of Princeton, Mark Karuzis and his wife Nancy of Shirley and Robin Ballard and her husband David of Berlin. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Emily Friedman of Princeton, Tyler Karuzis of Amherst, Jared Karuzis of Shirley, Aylee and Catriona Ballard of Berlin; his sister, Diane Hines of Lynn and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Karuzis of Lynn.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 12:00 noon in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial services will be private.
