Thomas F. Scesny, Sr., 71 of Stow passed away suddenly on Friday, November 23, at Emerson Hospital.
Tom was born on October 27, 1941 and lived in Stow most of his life. He was the son of the late Mildred J. (O'Malley) Scesny and Walter S. Scesny of Stow. Tom attended the Stow Public Schools. In 1959 he joined the United States Marines Corps and proudly served his country in Japan. He was an active member of the American Veterans in Hudson.
Tom worked in construction all of his life, and was an expert finish carpenter who took great pride in his work. Tom passed this trade onto his son who continues to carry on his father's and grandfather's legacy.
He was married to the late Rose (Vengren) Scesny. His greatest pride was his son Tom and his wife Barbara (Anelons) of Lancaster, his grandson Kevan Spoor and his wife Jennifer (Robbins) of Eastham, his daughter Dorothy Scesny-Spoor, his son-in-law Randy Spoor, and granddaughter Heidi Reyna of Clinton. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Betty Scesny of Stow, his brothers William and his wife Dianna of Leominster, Peter and his wife Cindy of Clinton, his sisters, Dorothy Scesny of the Sisters of the Presentation, Peggy Yesue and her husband Albert of Falmouth, Alice Palmer and her husband Bill, of Ohio, Veronica Tucker and her husband Steve of Leominster and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Tom was predeased by his brother Walter (Bud) Scesny.
Tom was an avid coin collector. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his son and grandson on construction sites and at the farm. He especially enjoyed volunteering at the Am Vets in Hudson during the holidays as chief chef.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29th at 10:30 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial services will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Gleasondale Road, Stow. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A reception will follow the graveside service at the Am Vets on South St., in Hudson...
