Timothy S. Utley

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy Shawn Utley, who died peacefully on January 2, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on December 13, 1948, in Brighton, he was the beloved son of the late Francis and Dorothy (McLaughlin) Utley.

Timothy dedicated much of his life to helping others. He worked for many years at Waltham Hospital before transitioning to Framingham State University, where he continued to serve the community until his retirement. His professional contributions touched many lives, but it was his infectious spirit and joyful nature that truly left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Timothy was married to his beloved wife, Joan (Cormier) Utley, on October 24, 1969. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising six children. His legacy of love and devotion lives on in them and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Timothy was a man who truly lived life to the fullest. Whether sharing a laugh with loved ones, playing with his grandchildren, or -most memorably- dancing on a table, he always made sure to bring joy and laughter to those around him. He had a unique ability to light up a room with his warm presence, leaving everyone feeling better for having been in his company.

In addition to his parents, Timothy is predeceased by his grandson, Darren Sheppard; his son in-law Donald Sheppard; and his siblings Francis “Frank” Utley, Dorothy Stonebreaker, Marjorie Utley, Richard Utley, Michael Utley, Robert Utley, Billy Utley, Rosemary Sheridan and Madeline Admirand.

In addition to his wife, Joan, Timothy is survived by his six children, Timothy Utley Jr. and his wife Shannon, Marcia Tula and her husband Bob, Laura Rego, Karine Sheppard, Michelle McFadden and her husband Rob, and Linda Harrington and her husband Dan; his grandchildren Calvin and his wife Katie, Courtney, D.J. and his wife Tawny, Jared, Joshua, Samantha, Emiley, Alex, Raegan, Luke, Bobby, Kelsie and her husband Kiran, Nick and his wife Kailey, Jared, Brady, Maya, Molly, Eden, Luna, Kayla, Chris, and Kerri; his great-grandchildren Jason, Leighla, Sean, Lillian, Ava, Layla, Arielle, and Asher; his siblings Joseph Utley, Ann Moruzzi, and James Utley; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also a dear friend to many, and his passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Timothy’s family will forever be grateful for the love he shared, and his memory will live on in the countless moments of laughter and joy that he brought into their lives.

Visiting hours will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 pm followed by a service at 4:30 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial services will be held privately at a later date.
