Timothy W. Varakis

Timothy W. Varakis, 71, of Hudson, MA, died on Friday, April 11, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife of 49 years, Marie (Scafidi) Varakis of Hudson, MA.

Timothy was born in Boston, MA, son of the late Simon and Mary (Burns) Varakis. He was raised in Brighton, MA where he attended local schools and was a 1971 graduate of Brighton High School. Timothy worked as a foreman for many years with Standard Thomson Corp. In 2011 he began his second career working for Advance Auto Parts making deliveries for the company until he retired in 2024. Timothy and his wife Marie resided in Waltham, MA following their marriage from 1975 to 1985. They moved to Brighton, MA in 1985 and continued raising their family. In 2004 they settled in Hudson, MA.

Besides his wife, Timothy is survived by his 4 children; Timothy Varakis and his wife, Melissa of Lowell, MA, Matthew Varakis and his wife, Maria of Clinton, MA, Alicia Prendable and her husband, Mark of Billerica, MA, and Sarah Tower and her husband, Joey of Hudson, MA; his 5 grandchildren, Zachary and Ava Varakis of Clinton, MA, Olivia and Ethan Prendable of Billerica, MA and Lilah Tower of Hudson, MA. He is also survived by his 2 sisters; Mary “Candy” Henke and her husband, Dan of California and Lorraine Torrielli and her husband, Larry of Watertown, MA; his sister-in-law Mary Varakis, wife of Timothy’s late brother, Jerry Varakis of West Roxbury, MA along with his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Timothy was an avid sports fan. In high school he excelled in all sports, especially baseball. He continued playing baseball and hockey and later after he was married and started a family, took up playing softball. He also grew to love the sport of bowling. Tim played in his Standard Thomson Corp. bowling league and continued to play in other leagues in later years. His true passion was his family. There were so many memorable gatherings at Nana’s Cottage in Halifax, MA. The 4th of July and Labor Day parties attended by all his family members grew to be his favorite yearly reunion times with his entire family. He will be missed but the many cherished memories he leaves will never be forgotten by those who loved and knew him.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, from 3:30 to 6:00 pm at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street Hudson, MA. A service and Celebration of Tim’s Life will follow at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Committal services will be held privately.
