Urania D. (Dias) Chaves, 91, of Hudson, died Friday, July 17th at her home in Hudson with her loving family at her side. She was the wife of 52 years to the late Artur Chaves who died in 1999.
She was born in S. Miguel the Azores, daughter of the late Agusto and Maria (Oliveira) Dias. She was a teacher in Portugal and also taught locally in the Hudson Public Schools. She was employed as an assembler by Data General Corp. of Southboro for many years until retiring in 1984. She was a member and communicant of Saint Michael's Parish of Hudson and member of the Hudson Portuguese Club.
She is survived by her five sons, Antonio Chaves and Jorge Chaves, both of Hudson, Jose Armando Chaves of Chandler, AZ, Jose Antonio Chaves of Marlboro and Abilio Chaves of Hudson; three daughters, Rosa Paulino, Alda Chaves and Zita Chaves, all of Hudson; 13 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 20th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 19th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
