Vicent A. "Vinny" Chaves, 52, of Hudson, died on Monday, Nov. 17 at Marlboro Hospital. He leaves his wife Eunisse (Leles) Chaves of Hudson.
He was born in Santa Maria, The Azores, son of the late Amancio Chaves who died in 1988 and survived by his mother, Aldina (Braga) Chaves of Hudson. He was a machinist for many years until his retirement. He was a graduate of Hudson H.S. and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a founder and helped organize the Hudson National Guard, Armor Division and member of the Hudson Portuguese Club. He recently led the effort to organize a dinner to honor local veterans of all wars which was held at the Hudson Portuguese Club on Friday evening, Nov. 14. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Allen Chaves of North Attleboro; a daughter, Amanda Chaves of Los Angeles, CA; a step-son, Sergio M. Filho and his two children, Mathew age 3 and Vivian age 2 of Clinton. He is also survived by his brothers, Manuel and Jose Chaves of Hudson, Luis Chaves of Glendale, AZ and Paul Chaves of Clinton.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
