Victorino G. Melo

Victorino G. Melo, 85, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at The Reservoir Center in Marlborough, Surrounded by his family, after a period of declining health. He is reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife of 59 years, Rita (Freitas) Melo, who predeceased him in 2013.

Victortino was born in the Azores on the island of Santa Maria, on January 10, 1934, one of eleven children of the late Jose Chaves and Maria Da Gloria Melo. He resided in Santa Maria until moving to Hudson in 1974. He spent a short time from 1981 to 1987 residing in Artesia, CA until moving back to Hudson in 1987. Victorino was a talented carpenter and successfully ran his own business for many years before retiring. He was also a longtime member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson.

Victorino is survived by his children, Jose Antonio Melo and his wife Maria, David Melo and his wife Denise, Fernando Melo and his wife Lurdes, Ines Cabral and her husband Tony, Almerinda Carreon and her husband Victor, Aida Chaves and her husband John, Angela Masters and Esperanca Stevens. He was predeceased by his son, Joao Melo in 2011 and daughter, Maria J. Symonds in 2003. He was also survived by 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4 pm until 7 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA 01749. A funeral cortege will process from the funeral home at to Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St. Hudson, MA on Monday, June 3, 2019, for a 9 am Mass of Christian Burial; followed by interment in Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson.
