Virginio Lopes Pacheco, 91 years old of Hudson, MA passed away on September 5, 2024 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.
Virginio was born on March 10, 1933 in Santa Maria, Acores in Portugal. He lived there with his late mother, Maria Lopes Pacheco and his late father, Jose Tavares Pacheco. He spent his younger years in Santa Maria, Acores where he was born and lived there for many years. He then moved to the United States in the 1960’s and has been a long time resident in Hudson, MA where he lived with his late wife and three children.
Virginio was married to his late wife of more than 60 years, Maria Silva Pacheco. He had 3 children. His daughter, Joanne Tostoes of Clinton, MA who was also his care giver for many years and who is married to Jose Tostoes of Clinton, MA. His daughter Margarida Pacheco of Hudson, MA and his son, Joe Pacheco of Hudson, MA. He also had three grandsons, Joey Pacheco, Gino Pacheco and Luis Pacheco. He also had many nephews and nieces.
Virginio is survived by 1 sister, Adelaide Pavao and her late husband Luis Pavao of Montreal, Canada. He was also predeceased by his sister Maria Martins and her late husband Guilherme Martins of Montreal, Canada.
Virginio spent his early years working as a butcher in Portugal and worked at Middlesex Research Company for many years in Hudson, MA as a machine operator until he retired in his 70’s. He enjoyed spending his retirement years traveling to Portugal, gardening, riding his bicycle, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street in Hudson, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on September 21, 2024 at Saint Michael Church, 21 Manning Street in Hudson, MA followed by burial at Saint Michael Cemetery.
