Wayne E. Cavanagh, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 with his family by his side. He is survived by his son, John W. Cavanagh of Oakham; his daughters: Julie Cavanagh Kyros and her husband Harry of Jefferson and Rachel Amabile and her husband Josh of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren: Zachary and Isabella Kyros of Jefferson, Kaylan and Jacob Cavanagh of Oakham and Metias and Sawyer Amabile of Lancaster; 2 sisters: Cindy Cavanagh of Berlin and Lorinda Cavanagh Blanchard of Westborough and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by 4 brothers: Clifford Cavanagh, Lawrence Cavanagh, Kenneth Cavanagh and David Cavanagh.
Wayne was born and raised in Marlborough the son of the late Albert H. and Barbara M. (Wheeler) Cavanagh and graduated Marlborough Vocational High School in 1968. He started his first business, Patten Machine Co. in 1977 and has been the owner/operator for 44 years. A longtime Hudson resident, Wayne was a lifelong member of the Hudson Concord Elks Lodge #959 who had a passion for hunting and fishing. Every year he would look forward to his annual salmon fishing trip to Maine spent with family and friends. He would enjoy many years of spending weekends on his boat down in Mattapoisett fishing. Later in his life, he purchased his vacation home in Vermont and would live at his Vermont home four days a week where he enjoyed his mountain views and 48 acres of land to explore and hunt. Wayne was a very social man and had many friends to spend time with, throughout his life he also enjoyed bowling, card games, and golfing but most of all he loved his many friendships, children, and grandchildren. All who knew Wayne, will miss him dearly.
A Graveside Celebration of life will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Forest Vale Cemetery in Hudson.
