Wilfred G. Beauregard, 94, of Berlin, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Wilfred was born on February 11, 1926 in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Oscar and Flora Beauregard. Wilfred enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and proudly served as an aerial gunner and aviation radioman in the SBD Dauntless dive bomber and the PV-1 Ventura bomber during WWII. Wilfred was stationed in the Pacific arena, based in the Philippines, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He loved to recount the story of being on the island when General MacArthur arrived. Wilfred reenlisted for four more years in the Navy Reserves as an Aviation Electronics man stationed in Boston where he was honorably discharged in April 1950.
Upon his discharge, Wilfred began his studies at WPI in Worcester, MA where he earned his BS in Electrical Engineering, then enrolled at Northeastern University where he graduated with his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Wilfred worked several years at Raytheon Corporation as an Electrical Engineer then finished his career at Olektron Corporation in Webster where he served as Vice President.
Wilfred enjoyed golfing and was an avid fly fisherman. He also loved to hunt and was a talented painter, and he earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying small aircraft. He also had an extensive gun collection with several Civil War and WWII guns. He loved carpentry and built much of his own home, and he and his wife, Helen, enjoyed searching for antiques and collectibles at flea markets.
Wilfred is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen (Solarov) Beauregard, his daughter, Susan Venuti, his daughter-in-law, Debra Beauregard and his second love after his wife passed, Helen Lucia. Wilfred leaves his four children: Dennis Beauregard and partner, Carol Barnard, Paula and Allan Bilodeau, James and MaryAnn Beauregard and Edward Beauregard. He also leaves three grandchildren: Nicole Beauregard, Jay Venuti, and Paul Venuti and many cherished friends.
Calling hours will be held from 2-5pm on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. His Funeral Mass is Monday, December 14, 2020 at 10:00am, at the St. Joseph Church, 52 West Street, Berlin, MA 01503 followed by a burial at North Cemetery, Berlin.
