Wilfred J. Freve, 94, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at St. Patrick Manor in Framingham, Ma, after a period of declining health.
Wilfred was born on October 7, 1924, in Fall River, MA, a son of the late Joseph W.H. and Flora (Daley) Freve. Wilfred resided most of his adult life in Fall River until moving to Hudson, where he lived for the past twenty years. Wilfred had a long and successful career in Textiles and Sales, finishing his career at Ideal Laundry before retiring. Wilfred was a proud WWII veteran, honorably serving his country in the United States Army from 1943 until 1946 earning the rank of 4th Grade Technician and receiving several commendations such as, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal. While in the service he married his beloved late wife, Genevieve (Stephanos) Freve, on June 14, 1944, embarking on a 71-year journey of love and devotion.
Wilfred enjoyed sports, especially when it came to baseball and golf. He also enjoyed spending his winters in Zephyr Hills, FL, as well as time spent at the Hudson Senior Center. Wilfred will most fondly be remembered as a great family man and regarded by many as a nice and kind person, who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Wilfred is survived by his son, Paul R. Freve and his wife Jeanne of Hudson, MA; two grandchildren, Jonathan Freve and his fiancée Rachel, and Julie Warner and her husband Derek; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Cecilia, Rylie, Franklin and Noah; a sister, Lauretta Levesque and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife Genevieve (Stephanos) Freve, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Doris Lajoie, Blanche Guillemette, and Armand Freve.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., Hudson, MA 01749.
