William J. Baird, 64, long time resident of Berlin, died on Wednesday, Dec. 30th at UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jacqueline J. (Hopper) Baird of Berlin.
William was born in Clinton, son of the late William J. Baird and survived by his mother, Marguerite (Roberge) Baird of Hudson. William was a man of many trades and most recently was employed by the town of Northboro in the school system maintenance department, he was also employed as a part time private security officer by JS Protective Services. Prior to that, he was employed by the town of Berlin Department of Public Works. William was a member of the Berlin Fire Dept. and the Berlin Rescue Dept. He enjoyed hunting and target shooting but most of all looked forward to spending the summers camping with his family and also the occasional winter cruises he took with his wife and children.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his two daughters, June Poland and her husband William Jr. of Berlin, Kathy Baird and her fiancAC. Roland Rivard of Leominster; his grandson Joey; his granddaughter Samantha and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Catherine Montgomery.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday Jan. 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Berlin. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Jan. 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
