William J. Sullivan, 60, of Hudson, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 1, 2018. He is survived by his mother, Helen Reske; two brothers, John and his wife Cathy Sullivan of Marlborough, and Michael of Hudson; two sisters, Mary Trudeau and her husband Mark of Leominster, and Coleen Ferris and her husband Michael of Naples, FL; along with four nieces and 3 nephews.
Bill grew up in Hudson attending Hudson high school. You could often see him around town in his cowboy hat, belt, and boots. He acquired an affinity for the south including country music while traveling and living in several southern locations including Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Bill loved the outdoors since he was a child often being found out back in the woods climbing trees, catching snakes, or fishing. In the winter months, you could find him skating on the pond behind our home or sledding in the backyard or at Indian Rock. This love of nature continued into his adulthood where he worked as a “tree surgeon” for many years before having to give it up due to a debilitating arthritic condition. He loved hiking and camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He could also often be found fishing at one of the local watering holes such as Gates pond, Danforth Falls, or Trips pond, during fishing season.
When thinking of Bill one of the first qualities you would think of is his sense of humor. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories to make people laugh. Bill also had a sensitive, kind and generous quality that he would rarely show to people, donating to charities such as The Children’s Hospital, helping friends, family, and strangers.
Bill loved to travel and his last few years were spent in Hawaii where again he enjoyed nature and the beautiful beaches. We will miss him and his unique, humorous personality. We love Bill deeply and are comforted in knowing that he is now in a better, more beautiful place where he is no longer in pain or suffering. We will see him there someday, God willing, where we will again laugh and joke with him. Until then, we will keep him in our hearts and remember the good times we spent with him.
