William “Bill” Charles Jagling, 76, a lifelong resident of Hudson, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Marlborough Hospital with his loving family by his side. He leaves his beloved wife of 42 years, Dorothy (Carey) Jagling.
Bill was born on August 19, 1942 in Marlborough, an only child of the late Thomas A. and Geraldine M. (Clark) Jagling. After graduating from Hudson High School, he attended Ward Schools of Business of Worcester, before enlisting in the United States Navy and proudly serving his Nation for 26 years. Bill also served his local community as a Postal Clerk in town for the United States Postal Service until he retired after over 30 years of service. Bill continued to work part time following his retirement as a convenient store clerk in town, where he was well known and well liked by the local patrons.
Bill enjoyed a modest lifestyle and found pleasure in the little things. He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and the occasional deep-sea fishing trip with his sons. He always enjoyed a celebration and would light up the room with his smile and jovial personality, but always with a touch of sarcasm. He could often be found cruising the streets of Hudson, feeding the wildlife in his backyard, tending to his “hill”, playing trivia and meticulously caring for his mother’s grave at Saint Michael’s Cemetery. He was an avid collector of various things including coins, patches, pins and WWII medals. Bill also enjoyed US history and was especially interested in the WWII era. Bill leaves behind many fond memories of good times with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife Dorothy (Carey) Jagling, he is also survived by his two sons, Thomas Jagling and his wife Jillian of Hudson and Jeffrey Jagling of Manhattan, NY, two grandchildren, Avery Jagling and Eleanor “Ella” Letterman and three cousins, Francis Jagling of Milford, CT, Barbara Richards of Louisville, KY and Peggy Sullivan of Hudson, MA.
