William Matthew Jr., 78, a long time resident of Hudson, died on Thursday, May 12th at Bolton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marlboro. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Nemensky) Matthew.
William was born and raised in Montpelier, Vermont, son of the late William Matthew Sr. and Jeannette (Paris) Matthew. He was employed as an assembler by General Motors Company in Framingham for many years until his retirement. Following his retirement, William enjoyed traveling to Vermont and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Paul Matthew and his wife Cheryl of Hudson; his daughter, Deborah Chalmers and her husband Scott of Ashland; his two grandchildren, Kristen and Rachel Matthew of Hudson; four sisters, Marie and Diane Matthew, Jane Murphy, Ann Harris; his three brothers, Michael, Ronald and James Matthew and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, May 14th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service on Saturday May 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow at Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of William may be made to: Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
