William J. Prendergast, 84, of Sudbury, formerly of South Boston, died Sunday, Oct. 3rd . He leaves his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth M. (Fay) Prendergast of Sudbury.
Born and raised in South Boston, son of the late William J. and Elizabeth M. (Kelley) Prendergast, William also resided in Burlington and Dorchester before moving to Sudbury in 1962. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving as an Electrician 1st class in Sipan, Tinnian and Guam. He was employed as a machinist for the Boston Globe for many years until his retirement. He also worked at the former Carling Brewing Company in Natick prior to the Globe. William was a member of the International Association of Machinists, Lodge 264 in Boston.
Besides his wife, William is survived by his three children, William J. Prendergast and his wife Nancy of Hudson, Karren Brunetti and her husband Joseph of Douglas and Ron T. Prendergast and his wife Ann Marie of Hudson. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Courtney and Brittany Prendergast, Matthew Brunetti, Joanna Belanger, Heather Braga, Jessica Mendez and Jonathan Prendergast and 5 great grandchildren, Sadie, Jaeden, Dominic, Ashlee and Michael. He was the brother of the late Thomas "Pat" Prendergast.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. at the: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial at the Old North Cemetery in Sudbury will be held at the convenience of the family.
