William A. Sullivan, 78, of Hudson, devoted husband of Judith (Silva) Sullivan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 12, 2016. Bill was born in Marlboro, son of the late John and Grace (Parker) Sullivan.
A graduate of Marlborough High School (1954) and retired member of the U.S. Air Force, Bill began a job in 1958 in the Secretary of State's Office for the Commonwealth of Mass. He held many positions in that office and retired as State Census Director in 1990. Despite a serious health condition, he persevered with quiet courage and a sense of humor that he shared with all those he knew. His disability was overshadowed by his drive. Bill enjoyed maintaining his home and property and was a self-taught carpenter.
Bill was a devoted husband and father. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Shannon Sullivan of Marlborough; Peter and his wife Stacy Sullivan of CT; and Susan and her husband, John Dzindolet of Holliston. Bill is also survived by his siblings, Jean Santos of Sharon, John and his wife Inge of Rockport, Paul and his wife Patricia of N. Billerica and Robert and his wife Diane of Westborough. He was predeceased by his sister, Eileen of Marlborough and brother Richard of Marlborough. In addition to his wife and children, he is also survived by his beloved five grandchildren, Paige Leger, Grace and Anthony Dzindolet; and , Garrett and Teagan Sullivan and by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 16th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial services will be held at the convenience of the family in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson at a later date.
