Bolton

John Robert Elbin, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Bolton, Massachusetts. He was the husband of Carole and they shared 44 years of marriage.

Born in Cleveland, John was the son of Robert Allen Elbin and Leota C. Smith. He graduated from West Tech High School, Cleveland State University and the University of Iowa. He enjoyed working at the Backpackers Shop and Griffith Paving in Ohio, and later retired from Lazaro Paving of Shirley, MA in 2012.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, home improvement projects and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of a good story, historical/family research, cooking delicious meals (including several pounds of bacon at a time), playing frisbee with his dog Maggie and seeking out a bargain.

He is survived by his sisters Marcy Fabbro of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and Glenda (Bill) White of California, brothers-in-law Greg (Tam) Smith of Virginia and Brian (Carol) Smith of Chicago, his sons Marc (Annie) of Minnesota and Jesse (Kimberley) of Virginia and his deeply beloved grandson, Bennett. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Norm, who has a spot at the card table waiting for him. No memorial services are planned at this time.

Those who would like to give a memorial in his name, please support your local animal shelter as John was an animal lover and his family believes this legacy to improve a small part of the world would make him smile.
